Committees
DCHOA relies heavily on committees to carry out the functions of DCHOA throughout the season. Each year, committee chairs select members to join in these efforts.
Committees
The Audit Committee Chair shall be appointed by the President and approved by the Board. The Audit Committee shall consist of 5 members, including the chair.
The Audit committee shall complete the Annual Audits of the DCHOA. The Audit Committee shall conduct a complete Financial Audit which shall be presented at the August Board Meeting, and August General Meeting. The Audit Committee shall conduct an audit of organizational functions of the DCHOA which shall be presented at the March Board Meeting and March Annual Meeting.
The Education Committee shall be chaired by the Referee-in-Chief. The Education Committee shall consist of a minimum of 7 members, including the chair, to be approved by the Board.
The chair shall appoint a Mentoring/Orientation Coordinator, an Evaluation/Coaching Coordinator, and an Information/Communication/Website Coordinator, all to be approved by the board.
The Education Committee is responsible for the creation and presentation of developmental and instructional materials to support the Education Program. Each year, the Education Committee shall create an education plan for the season, which shall be presented at the August Board Meeting. The Education Committee is also responsible for maintaining all aspects of communication related to mentoring, orientation, coaching, and evaluation through the appointed Coordinators. The Education Committee shall produce and update all the educational content of the DCHOA website.
The Ethics Committee Chair shall be appointed by the president and approved by the Board. The Ethics Committee shall consist of 5 members, including the chair, to be approved by the Board.
The Ethics committee is responsible for hearing and ruling on complaints as well as taking appropriate action against any members for violations of the DCHOA Constitution and By-Laws, DCHOA Rules, and DCHOA Policies. The Ethics Committee shall meet as necessary to respond to and rule on these complaints. The Ethics Committee shall provide a written record of all disciplinary actions and hearings to the Board.
The Nominating Committee shall be chaired by the Secretary. The Nominating Committee shall consist of a minimum of 3 members, including the chair.
The Nominating Committee is responsible for identifying and presenting a slate of Candidates for the Board of Directors to the Membership. The Nominating Committee promotes and seeks candidates to fill the ballot for the election of the Board of Directors. The Nominating Committee shall announce these candidates to the Membership prior to the election.
The Rates Committee shall be chaired by the Treasurer. The Rates Committee shall consist of a minimum of 3 members, including the chair.
The Rates Committee is responsible for establishing the current rates that are paid to officials for games that are scheduled by the DCHOA. The Rates Committee shall complete an analysis of the current rates and provide a recommendation for rates adjustments to the Board of Directors on an annual basis.
The Recruiting Committee shall be chaired by the Registrar. The Recruiting Committee shall consist of a minimum of 3 members, including the chair, to be approved by the Board.
The Recruiting Committee is responsible for the efforts of the DCHOA to recruit new officials and retain current officials. The Recruiting Committee shall plan, coordinate, and implement strategies to increase the membership of the DCHOA.
The Referee Room Committee chair shall be the Rink Liaison. The Referee Room Committee shall consist of a minimum of 3 members, including the committee chair.
The Referee Room Committee is responsible for maintaining and improving the locker room facilities provided to the members of the DCHOA. Each year, the Referee Room Committee shall inspect each of these locker room facilities and recommend to the facility manager the updates that need to be made to become in compliance with the DCHOA Locker Room Policy. The Referee Room Committee shall provide a report of their findings and recommendations at the September Board Meeting.
The Rules Committee chair shall be the Secretary. The Rules Committee shall consist of a minimum of 5 members, including to the chair, to be approved by the Board.
The Rules Committee is responsible for the consideration and introduction of proposed policies, rules, changes or amendments to the current Constitution and By-Laws, Rules, and Policies of the DCHOA. The Rules Committee is responsible for the interpretation of the existing Constitution and Bylaws, Rules and Policies of the DCHOA.
The Special Events Committee chair shall be appointed by the President and approved by the Board. The Special Events Committee shall consist of a minimum of 5 members, including the chair and the Scheduler, to be approved by the Board.
The Special Events Committee is responsible for assigning officials to all games that are deemed to be Special Events. The Special Events Committee shall communicate to the membership a schedule of Special Events games, the eligibility requirements to be considered for assignment to Special Events games and solicit officials’ availability for Special Events games. The Special Events Committee shall meet to assign officials to Special Events games. The Special Events Committee shall assign replacement officials as necessary.
