DCHOA Hall of Honor and Annual Awards

By Adam Johnsen | October 9, 2026

Thank you to everyone who joined us at our Start of the Season event. It was great to see many familiar faces again and to meet several of our new officials. During the event, we were excited to make two important announcements.

The first was the creation of the DCHOA Legends of the Stripes Hall of Honor, which recognizes DCHOA members for their contributions to our association. I am proud to announce our inaugural class of inductees:

  • Glen Bostedt
  • Larry Carrington
  • Dave Ferwerda
  • Randy Wise

We are proud to be able to recognize these four individuals for their contributions to DCHOA and look forward to inducting them as Legends of the Stripes at the March General Meeting.

We also announced a new Annual Awards Program that will recognize three members each season for their achievements during the year. The following awards will also be presented to the winners at the March General Meeting.

  • Coaching and Mentoring Award – Awarded to DCHOA Off-Ice Coach or Black Jacket Mentor for their contributions over the course of the season.
  • New Official Award – Awarded to a first year Level 1 official for their on-ice efforts and their participation in the DCHOA community.
  • Official Improvement Award – Awarded for growth and advancement of their officiating career throughout the season.

As you can see, celebrating our members and their accomplishments will be a central part of the March General Meeting. I hope you will set aside the time to join us as we recognize those who have made a lasting impact on our association.
