Make the Most of Your DCHOA Education

Now that we’ve hit September, the start of our season comes skating in at full speed. As you prepare for the season and finish up your USA Hockey requirements, now is a great time to dive deeper into all of the education programming that DCHOA offers. Much of our focus this summer has been continuing to improve programs like our new Level 1 Ice Sessions, Level 2 Ice Sessions, Black Jacket Mentoring Program, and Off-Ice Coaching.

One of our primary goals this season is to provide consistent off-ice coaching opportunities for all our officials. For this we have built some new features into the DCHOA Education Site where you can access our educational content. Once you are logged in to the site, you will see the Coaching and Mentoring Home page listed in the menu on the left side. This will take you to the page where you can view all of your previous coaching feedback as well as see any of your upcoming games that have an off-ice coach assigned to them.

Having ongoing access to this feedback is a big part of how our officials keep developing all season, not just something to look at once and move on from. We’d encourage every official to make it a habit — check in on your feedback, keep working on it, and keep looking to learn and get better with every game you work, all season long.
